Our Mission Statement

The Northeast Youth Center is committed to creating low cost recreational and educational experiences for children. Our programs build life experiences that enhance youth self-esteem. We have proudly represented the City of Spokane’s Parks and Recreation Department since 1971.

The Northeast Youth Center proudly serves a diverse population of children and families through our Early Childhood and Education Assistance Program (ECEAP), Before and After School Childcare and Transportation Program, and School Break Camps.

Our center aims to create a culturally aware environment designed to promote the acceptance of others, celebrate our differences, and encourage responsible ways of being in the world and engaging with others. We strive to support children by helping them identify their individual strengths and qualities, and encouraging them to work through a strengths-based lens. Each child has their own unique needs and gifts!

While each child is unique in their own right, what each of our children have in common is their collective need for access to the basic resources needed to succeed: regular nutritional meals, extra help finishing their homework, the presence of caring and nurturing adult role models, a safe place where they feel loved and accepted for who they are, and a wide-array of opportunities to experience and engage in our community–opportunities they would not otherwise have.
