Northeast Youth Center Welcomes New Executive Director, Crystal MaCurdy

Spokane, WA — The Northeast Youth Center (NEYC), a vital hub in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood since 1971, proudly announces Crystal MaCurdy as its new Executive Director. A passionate advocate for children and families, MaCurdy brings over 12 years of experience in early childhood education, nonprofit leadership, and community support to the role—along with a deep, personal connection to the neighborhood she now serves.

“I am honored and enthusiastic to take on the role of Executive Director at Northeast Youth Center, an exciting opportunity that speaks to my passions, skills, and my guiding belief: that access to high-quality education and basic resources are fundamental rights for all children and families,” says Crystal.
MaCurdy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and an Early Childhood Education Certificate from Washington State University—Go Cougs!—and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Family Interventions through Walden University.

Her career spans teaching preschool in multiple childcare centers, operating a home-based preschool, teaching parenting classes for women in recovery, facilitating workshops for early educators, and running a nonprofit organization. Each chapter of her work has focused on uplifting underserved families and ensuring children have a strong, supported start in life.
Under her leadership, NEYC will continue to provide essential services, including recreational programs, school-age care, nutritious meals, and preschool through the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP).

“The staff at Northeast Youth Center has welcomed me warmly, and I am deeply grateful to have inherited a diverse team filled with heart and a drive to make a difference. As your new Executive Director, I am committed to keeping our families informed on our progress and growth as we embark on this new journey together,” said MaCurdy.

For more than 50 years, NEYC has been the heartbeat of the Hillyard community. With MaCurdy at the helm, its future looks even brighter.
