In the heart of Hillyard, the Northeast Youth Center has been a beacon of light and hope for countless low-income families. For over two decades, one extraordinary individual has played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of thousands of children – Ray Anderson, affectionately known as Ray-Ray.
A humble and gentle giant, Ray’s journey from Louisiana to Yakima, WA, echoes a tale of redemption and transformation. Sent to live with family after facing troubles in school, Ray found his purpose at the Northeast Youth Center. For the past 23 years, Ray has been a father figure, mentor, and friend to the children who walk through the center’s doors.
Ray’s impact extends beyond his official role as Maintenance Manager; he is an inspiring figure and a firm supporter of the aspirations of the children and families served by the center. From Southern mac n’ cheese to driving kids to school, Ray has worn many hats, always putting the well-being of the kids first.
As Ray embarks on his well-deserved retirement on January 12, 2024, we invite you to celebrate his legacy by contributing to the newly established Ray Anderson Scholarship Fund. This fund aims to ensure that every child, regardless of their family’s economic situation, receives the exceptional care and support they deserve.
